We Play Hockey Too
The mission of We Play Hockey Too is to develop resilient and confident hockey players of color by reaffirming their identity through providing support and a network of peers.
U.S. 501(c)(3) Nonprofit • Serving Players & Families Nationwide
Changing the Game
We Play Hockey Too addresses the under representation of players of color in ice hockey by creating opportunities for children regardless of background or financial status. We support Black, Asian, Latino, South Asian, and BIPOC participation by helping underrepresented communities access, grow, and thrive in the sport. Youth sports promote academic success, leadership, mental well-being, and self-discipline. Through hockey, we teach commitment, grit, teamwork, and other life skills while fostering an inclusive environment that builds confidence, resilience, and character. Our commitment to these values is unwavering and central to our mission.
Development. Education. Community.
We offer hockey development, education and community programs that empower young people of color to build confidence, gain life skills and belong both on and off the ice.

The Academy aims to elevate the skillset and opportunities of our athlete, while fostering a sense of identity and community. Through structured training, educational sessions, and cultural engagement, the program helps participants achieve their hockey ambitions.
Players. Families. Coaches. Supporters.
Our community is made up of players, families, coaches, volunteers and supporters who believe in a more inclusive hockey future. There are many ways to get involved and help make a difference.
We strive to create an atmosphere that fosters player self-confidence, develops high self-esteem, and builds strong character supported by a skill set to pursue a love of hockey to compete and move on to higher levels through clinics and team competition. We offer various clinics throughout the year that teach our kids by exposing them to techniques and drills used by upper tier athletes. We focus on instruction rather than demonstration. Our development philosophy is everyone can be elite with the right training.
We Play Hockey Too thrives in large part due to the charitable support of Sponsors and Community Partners. Many donors have made gifts to provide key in-kind services. We Play Hockey Too partners with regional nonprofits to expand access, develop skills, foster diversity, provide mentorship, and strengthen community connections through hockey.
